Catherine Howe, norteamericana, explora y explota el mito de “mujeres como diosas” acercándose a las nociones contemporáneas de belleza, deseo femenino y placer. Tradicionalmente entendido como el objeto de la mirada masculina, Howe transforma la histórica “figura femenina” dándole un nuevo sentido. Jugando con referencias históricas y alegóricas, la artista interpreta y malinterpreta significados a su antojo con la intención de crear su propio contextualizado y contemporáneo significado. Mira hacia atrás para identificarse con las almas femeninas, actuando como un coleccionista de fragmentos culturales, descubriendo nuevas formas de mirarse a sí misma de adentro hacia afuera.
